My 8x Great Grandmother, Abigail Walker was born 17 February 1671 in Stratford, CT. She was the 3rd of 6 children born to Joseph and Abigail (Prudden) Walker. Her parents were Puritans and she was baptized 25 February 1671. Her father was a weaver.
At the age of 16, she married John Bostwick in 1687 and moved to a farm. Abigail had 11 children: John 1688, Robert 1691, Ebenezer 1693, Joseph 1695, Nathaniel 1699, Lemuel 1704, Sarah 1705, Abigail 1707, Daniel 1708, Mary 1714, and Hannah 1716.
In 1707, they were the second family to move to New Milford, CT. It doesn’t appear that any of her siblings moved here but several Bostwick families did. They lived on 8 acres and had the first child born, Daniel, in the town.
Abigail’s mom, Abigail, had remarried and had 2 more children after her first husband (Abigail’s father) died. She was known as Abigail Hubbell and when she died in 1717, Abigail Bostwick was in her will.
In this part of the will she is giving her 2 daughters Abigail Bostwick and Johanna Odell her wearing aparill to be divided equally. The passage went on to indicate that if either or both of them died before she did that the clothing should go to their daughters. There was also a part of the will that gave her daughters a lot of the household goods that went into detail.
Abigail Bostwick died in 1727 in New Milford, CT. It is not known where she is buried.
