Heirloom Sheet Music

My mom kept the sheet music that my grandma Hazel Jagdfeld used when she played piano. Mom sent one to me because it has a ukulele arrangement and I take lessons on this instrument. The cover features Ruth Etting who was a Ziegfeld star. The music If I Could Be With You was published in 1926 but this sheet music wasn’t published until around 1930. Three reasons for this, there is another song on the back If You Can’t Have the Girl of Your Dreams which was published in 1930, Ruth Etting didn’t join Ziegfeld until 1927 and finally the cover photo is the same as the promotional photo for the 1930 show Simple Simon. The instrument in the photo isn’t a ukulele but I think it may be a lute guitar. There are many artists that recorded this song but there is a youtube video of Ruth singing it from TCM. Check it out here if you are interested in hearing it.
