Heirloom Lap Blanket

My Grandma, Hazel Jagdfeld, could knit, crochet, and needlepoint. The lap blanket above is an example of her knitting. I remember seeing it draped over the sectional sofa in her home. We visited my grandparents every Sunday evening and on the occasional cool night this blanket would be covering her.
Now, the blanket is in my home draped over a chair. As I write this, the snow is falling and it is the perfect day to curl up with a book and a cup of tea and pull this blanket over me. I’m reading The Chidren’s Blizzard by David Laskin. I wonder if my grandma heard stories about the storm since her mom grew up in Minnesota and was living there in 1888 when the blizzard hit.
